Getting Started

Taking the first step toward therapy can feel like a big one. Here's what working with Dr. Duval looks like, and how to begin.

How it works:

1. Reach out. Start by getting in touch by confidential email welcome@duvalpsych.com. Share a little about what's bringing you to therapy and what you're hoping for — as much or as little as feels comfortable.

2. Your first session. Your first appointment is a chance to begin telling your story and to get a feel for working together. Dr. Duval's hope is that you leave it feeling genuinely understood — and intrigued by a new way of thinking about what's going on for you.

3. Ongoing work. From there, you and Dr. Duval will find a rhythm that fits your needs and goals, whether that's focused work on a specific concern or the longer-term, deeper work that many of her patients choose over time.

Telehealth in California and Virginia:

Dr. Duval practices entirely by telehealth and can see patients located in California and Virginia. Sessions take place over secure video, so you can meet from the privacy and comfort of your own space.
